Welcome to the Schlener's Website Homepage Our biggest concern right now is that Carlos and his Mom receive Christ as Savior. After Phil asked God to "put someone in my path," Carlos, in a drunken stupor, greeted him at the entrance to the church. Subsequently, he and his Mom welcomed Phil into their house where he's been teaching them the Biblical account of the origin of man and of their responsibility to a loving and just God. Their coming to Christ will be a great victory and testimony to the power of God to save as Carlos has been a terror to the residents of his apartment building during the eight years since his father died. Elena teaches two classes of Spanish and leads a girls' Bible study while Phil teaches four classes of Math and English. We have assisted in teaching at the nearby Ramada Baptist Church on Sunday morning. This year, we are concentrating our efforts at the Miratejo Baptist Church. Miratejo is located south of the city, and across the Tejo (pronounced tay-joo) River from the main city of Lisbon.
